Vigor Solar Energy Pvt Ltd supplies solar panels, inverters and related equipment, alongside solar installation and project services. Based in Chennai, the company serves residential, commercial and industrial customers.
Like many trading and distribution businesses, Vigor Solar needs to keep track of money moving between suppliers and customers, record equipment purchases accurately and reconcile GST. Its three-person accounts team manages this work in TallyPrime 7.1 on the cloud.
Before AI Accountant, bank transactions and purchase bills had to be entered into Tally manually. Each entry took around five minutes, leaving the team with less time for reviewing accounts and analysing the numbers.
With AI Accountant, Vigor Solar has reduced entry time to one or two minutes while keeping its existing Tally setup and accounts team.
So far, AI Accountant has prepared 318 entries: 291 bank transactions and 27 purchase bills.

In distribution, the bank statement is the busiest book
A distribution business makes money by moving stock: buying panels and equipment from manufacturers, then selling them on to dealers, installers and end customers. Every one of those deals creates money movement, with payments going out to suppliers and receipts coming in from buyers, often in parts.
That makes the bank statement the busiest record in the business. At Vigor Solar, more than 9 in 10 entries are bank transactions.
Before AI Accountant, every one of them was entered into Tally by hand. For each line on the bank statement, an accountant had to work out who the payment was from or to, pick the right party ledger, and post the entry.
Purchase bills needed the same care. Equipment bills are high-value, and each one carries GST that the business can claim back, but only if the entry in Tally is right. An accountant had to read the vendor, invoice number, line items and GST, choose the ledger and type it all in. Each entry took around 5 minutes.
The work also came in bursts. When large orders and installation projects closed, supplier bills and customer payments landed together, and the team had to catch up on all of them at once.
For a three-person team, that meant a large share of the week went on typing, rather than on understanding the numbers.

Faster entries without changing Tally
Vigor Solar had just moved to TallyPrime on the cloud and wanted to keep working there. What it needed was a way to stop typing every bank line and bill by hand, without adding people.
So the team added AI Accountant on top of its existing Tally setup.
AI Accountant prepares the entry
Vigor Solar connected AI Accountant with its TallyPrime 7.1 cloud setup.
The Tally workflow stayed as it was. AI Accountant took over the work of reading bank statements and bills and preparing the entries, while the team reviews and posts them.
Bank transactions
AI Accountant reads Vigor Solar's bank statements and predicts the right ledger for each transaction, based on how the team already records similar payments and receipts in Tally. The accountant reviews the prepared entries instead of creating each one from scratch.
The team has processed 291 bank transactions this way.
Purchase bills
The process is simple:
- Upload the bill
- AI Accountant extracts the details
- Predicts the accounting treatment
- Accountant reviews
- Entry is posted to Tally
AI Accountant reads the purchase bill and extracts important information such as:
- Vendor name and details
- Invoice number and date
- Individual line items
- Quantities and amounts
- Taxable value
- GST details
It then uses Vigor Solar's existing accounting setup to predict the appropriate ledger and GST treatment. The accountant reviews the prepared entry before it is posted.
The team has processed 27 purchase bills this way.
GST reconciliation in the same workflow
Vigor Solar also uses AI Accountant for GST reconciliation, checking its purchase entries against what suppliers have filed. On high-value equipment purchases, that check protects the GST credit the business is entitled to claim.
From 5 minutes to 1 to 2 minutes per entry
Each entry used to take around 5 minutes by hand. With AI Accountant, it now takes 1 to 2 minutes, including the accountant's review.
That cuts the time per entry by 60 to 80%. Across 318 entries, the team estimates it has saved around 18.5 hours of manual work so far, and the saving grows with every bank statement and bill.
“The team is very supportive and the software app is also good and useful.”Sikkander, Director, Vigor Solar Energy
More volume, same three people
Vigor Solar is handling more volume with the same three-person accounts team. When orders and projects close together, the team now reviews prepared entries instead of falling behind on typing them.
The time saved has gone to work that needs an accountant's judgement.
“Now our accountant can spend more time on accounts analysis.”Sikkander, Director, Vigor Solar Energy
What's next
Vigor Solar has asked about automating journal vouchers next. These are the adjustment entries accountants make for things like corrections and transfers between ledgers, and they are currently still entered by hand.
So far with AI Accountant
For a trading and distribution business, the change is not about replacing Tally or replacing the accountant.
It is about taking the typing out of the busiest part of the books, the bank statement, so a three-person team can keep up as volume grows and spend its time on analysis.
The team still reviews every entry and remains in control. AI Accountant handles the repetitive work in between.
